Research for the Textile Industry
In a complex context for the actors in the textile-clothing sector chain, it is appropriate to highlight the importance of institutions such as the Peruvian Association of Textile Technicians (APTT), a union established on November 10, 1962, by people with a technical-scientific nature. Social workers are dedicated to work related to the textile industry and to promoting and stimulating the study, research, and dissemination of technical knowledge derived from the textile industry.
In this regard, Patricia Cueva Ormeno, president of the APTT, comments that the main objective of her management is to ensure that the entity has a leading role in the sector. To this end, it brings together all the students, workers, and entrepreneurs of the textile and clothing sector. Our country provides support, advice, and contact with textile entities around the world.
“What we are trying to promote is that they become more familiar with the Association and show that we can promote textile development through access to the library, laboratories, courses, workshops, and training. Over time we want to promote topics that are not taught much at the university, for example, the topic of management because there is no point in working in the plant if you do not know how to manage a company, in general for professionals in the sector to get involved in the entire productive process””, emphasizes the directive.
He adds that the APTT managers invite teachers to spread their knowledge for the development of the sector. “I have worked for 25 years in production, then in the management part… the idea is to train and make your workers go hand in hand with you, trying to set an example. That is, to be a coach so that they follow you and that they also get involved, from the one who cleans to the one who bags the product, because, in general, the production chain has to do with quality,” he emphasizes.
Regarding the performance, the head of the Association points out that this year it was reinforced because more young people became involved, as well as new members. And he points out that he will run again as the head of the Board of Directors for 2019. “So, I have to stay one more year, and we are going to renew three people on the board; the idea is to continue with the work.”
